STARRING JANET LEIGH announce final tour, entitled the "LASTT CALL TOUR"
Ironclad Recording artists Starring Janet Leigh have announced their final tour under that name. The statement by guitarist Matt Zadkovich below explains the band's decision. Their album, Spectrum, was released on May 12th, 2009, and is available on Amazon.com and iTunes.com.
"Due to recent member changes and a drastic shift in our sound, we decided it was only fair that Starring Janet Leigh go out in style with one last kick at the can through our homeland. There are a lot of bands out there that keep the same name when they are clearly no longer the same band, and we've decided to take a different route than that. We all love what we did with SJL over the years and are sincerely going to miss it. The new album in the making is taking a very different direction than the previous release, but we're sure fans of SJL and fans of progressive metal will love it! Thanks to everyone who supported SJL the years, it means the world to us. Be sure to make it out to one of the final shows if you can, this tour is gonna be a BANGER!" - Matthew Zadkovich

Check out what people have been saying about STARRING JANET LEIGH’s latest release Spectrum:
“Like Norman Bates with his kitchen knife, these five Canadians slice their way through several musical boundaries, including death metal, hardcore, jazz, progressive, and fusion, with unfettered vengeance and vehemence…delivered with surgical precision.” Outburn magazine
“…an incredible nine-song set of genre-bending adventure that places them firmly in a class that includes Candiria, Between the Buried and Me, and Mr. Bungle before them.” Fangoria.com
“…well-formed and brutally nice… the chugging section that leads into the clear cloud break is perfect; you can imagine a pit devouring it live, even the brief Mr Bungle passage works. The vocals too are excellent, while the drums, as usual with these guys, are spit-fire.” Blistering.com
“…there’s a tantalizing 70s progressive rock element that keeps creeping into their music, as if Frank Zappa and Robert Fripp are trying to bust into a jam between Psyopus and Every Time I Die.” Hellbound.ca
“Spectrum is a mind-warping debut album that will impress some and leave others clueless… Chaotic and unpredictable… Like The Dillinger Escape Plan on speed, or a technical death metal band gone haywire, STARRING JANET LEIGH is the sound of five guys completely out of control and enjoying every minute of the ride. Spectrum is a wild debut album, one that isn't content to stick to a formulaic design.” About.com
“Hyperactive technicality, schizophrenic speed, and a whole lot of extreme make up Canada’s STARRING JANET LEIGH and their latest album, Spectrum. You better chug a few Monster Energy Drinks before you listen to this one, because Spectrum is one hell of a thrill ride from start to finish. Seeing the current brutality coming out of Canada, STARRING JANET LEIGH fits in perfectly with the likes of Beneath The Massacre, Ion Dissonance, and Despised Icon…” 8/10 SMNnews.com
“The music is not just simply a strict dichotomy of jazz and technical death metal. The jazz influences the metal, and the metal influences the jazz. Instead of the standard wall of sound and constant crushing guitars and drums, the death metal features complex rhythmic and melodic themes constantly intertwining and changing. Each instrument can be heard weaving in and out of the others, and the moments when they all come together are pure bliss.” MetalUnderground.com
"Spectrum is unbelievably heavy, extraordinarily fast, and incredibly pissed off. Fans of the Death Metal genre will truly dig this album; it is one of the better ones that I have heard in this genre this year if for no other reason than at least STARRING JANET LEIGH have thought outside the box by adding a bit of unexpected variety.” 8/10 PureGrainAudio.com

NEW VID ON MYSPACE METAL!!!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STARRING JANET LEIGH unleashes new music video for the song "Ex You" on MySpace Metal!
Los Angeles, CA, October 5, 2009 – The Canadian metal outfit STARRING JANET LEIGH has just unleashed a brand new music video for the track Ex You and are set to premier it on MySpace Metal. The track Ex You is off their Ironclad Recordings debut Spectrum, which just came out May 12th 2009 to rave reviews from metalheads and critics alike. Metalers can check out the new video starting Tuesday October 6th at MySpace Metal HERE and don’t forget to check out the bands MySpace page, which was recently redesigned and features music, tour dates, band news and more.
Here’s what guitarist Matt Zadkovich had to say about the video for Ex You: “We wanted Ex You to be our first video because felt it to be a short & sweet, honest, in your face representation of the band and the album. It was filmed in our dank hole of a jam space, which we felt was perfect for the shoot to show who SJL is and what we're all about it. We wanted the video to showcase how the live experience with SJL is, shooting in a place we're all too familiar with. It was filmed over the course of 3 days with our good friend Mike Molloy from Static Studios here in Toronto. Mike's input on this video was invaluable and we're stoked to release it. Enjoy!”
If you like what you hear you can pick up Spectrum HERE (CD, t-shirt, and a bundle package available)

STARRING JANET LEIGN SIGNS TO IRONCLAD RECORDINGS!!!
Ironclad Recordings signs Starring Janet Leigh!
Ironclad Recordings (Trevor Phipps of Unearth’s label) is pleased to announce the signing of Starring Janet Leigh. Formed in 2003, the Canadian metal act Starring Janet Leigh began with creating music the band found both interesting and challenging with no compromise to musical integrity. Fusing death metal, hardcore, and modern jazz to create a sound that can best be described as progressively technical death metal, Starring Janet Leigh’s aural onslaught is a fine blend of artistry, fury, passion and precision. Combine the band’s musical fervor and dexterity with their unforgettable live show and what you end up with is no need for gimmicks or clichés.
"We're really pleased about signing with the guys from Ironclad. It's nice to work with people who care as much about your music as you do and really wanna see it through.
Right now we are working on a music video for the song Ex You from our forthcoming album Spectrum. We're hoping to have it ready for the album release in May 2009. Once the album is out we plan on doing as much touring as we can to bring this record to the masses with a vengeance! Get ready!" Starring Janet Leigh
“We are excited to be working with Starring Janet Leigh as we feel they have a lot to offer the world of heavy music. Their technically proficient blend of death metal and various forms of aggressive music is something we can fully back and get excited about. Check out their debut "Spectrum" on May 12th!” Trevor Phipps Ironclad Recordings
Starring Janet Leigh is now poised to unleash their debut full length album Spectrum on the world, which lands in stores and online everywhere May 12th, 2009. The band recorded Spectrum in June and September 2007 with Producer/Engineer Greg Dawson of BWC Studios who has previously worked with Mare (Hydrahead), The End (Relapse), Moneen (Vagrant) and many others. Mastering of Spectrum was handled by Alan Douches at West West Side who has worked with Converge, The End, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mastodon, Unearth, and Nile just to name a few. Current fans and new comers to Starring Janet Leigh should expect to hear the band head in a much more death metal direction on Spectrum while still retaining their progressive and experimental roots.
“Compared with previous songs written, the cohesion and understandability of our music has allowed us to push the level of intensity and technicality to new levels while still maintaining a very listenable and atmospheric presence. We hope that listeners will be able to take away something new each and every time they listen to the album, while still knowing and feeling the songs as they did the first time they were heard” comments guitarist Matthew Zadkovich.
Expect to see Starring Janet Leigh across Canada, the USA and Europe in the near future.
In other news; Starring Janet Leigh will be filming their first video for the track ‘Ex You’ off the album Spectrum this Saturday in Toronto. The shoot is going down during the band’s performance as part of the Montreal Assault Tour which features Despised Icon, Beneath the Massacre, Carnifex, Blind Witness, The Last Felony, and Starring Janet Leigh.
Here’s what critics have been saying about STARRING JANET LEIGH:
“Like Norman Bates with his kitchen knife, these five Canadians slice their way through several musical boundaries, including death metal, hardcore, jazz, progressive, and fusion, with unfettered vengeance and vehemence…delivered with surgical precision.” Outburn magazine
“…an incredible nine-song set of genre-bending adventure that places them firmly in a class that includes Candiria, Between the Buried and Me, and Mr. Bungle before them.” Fangoria.com
“…the chugging section that leads into the clear cloud break is perfect; you can imagine a pit devouring it live, even the brief Mr Bungle passage works.
“Progressive jazz-technical death metal is quite the moniker, but it fits here. STARRING JANET LEIGH relentlessly mixes extreme death metal with jazz… pushing boundaries, mixing music genres, and challenging the listener.” MetalUnderground.com
“Spectrum is unbelievably heavy, extraordinarily fast, and incredibly pissed off. Fans of the Death Metal genre will truly dig this album; it is one of the better ones that I have heard in this genre this year if for no other reason than at least STARRING JANET LEIGH have thought outside the box by adding a bit of unexpected variety.” 8/10 PureGrainAudio.com
